Taekwon-do Association of India (Registered under the copy right Act) which is affiliated to INTERNATIONAL TAEKWON-DO FEDERATION wide registration No:INO # 412.

1974: I.T.F. was started by Mr. V.Mohan Dass,  who came from Malaysia to India, in five states (Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala & Gujarat). In December 1974, I.T.F. classes were stated in the above said five states by Mr. V. Mohan Dass, 2nd Dan Black Belt.

1978: All India Taekwon-do Association (AITA) was formed.

 

1983: Mohan Dass left India and AITF was taken care by V. Pannerselvan and G. Balakrishna in Tamil Nadu and B.V. Ramanaiah in Andhra Pradesh. Chandrasekhar played vital role in Karnataka.

 

1986: First National Taekwondo championship (ITF) was held in Chennai.

1991: All India Taekwondo Association (AITA) name was changed to Taekwon-do Association of India (TAI).

 

1998: 1st South zone Taekwondo championship (ITF) was held in Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh).

 

2002: Taekwondo founder General Choi Hong Hi passed away in Pyongyang (North Korea).

 

Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa became the President of International Taekwondo Federation (ITF).

2012: Under the leadership of Master B.V. Ramanaiah, 7th Dan Black Belt, Taekwondo association of India (TAI-ITF) so far conducted 26 National Taekwondo championships and 15 south zone championships

  1. Taekwon-Do was introduced in India by Choi and started coaching classes in Chennai. It gradually spread to other South-Indian state…!
